The Damptec team has begun work on a new build lift pit in Manchester.  We recommended a combined waterproofing system:

  • Type A (barrier protection), external waterproofing, walls and floor
  • Type B: (structurally integral), designed and installed by a third party using waterproofed concrete

Preparation by Damptec Systems Ltd

  • The slab was jet washed to create a clear and clean surface.
  • The existing rebar was cut off to ground level (see photo 1)
  • We then applied Koster Repair Mortar over any holes
  • Over this we applied 2 coats of NB1 Grey (see photo 2)

Waterproofing specification proposal:

  • First visit: Install Delta Amphibia pre-applied waterproofing membrane to the prepared lift pit slab prior to the installation of a secondary cast slab.  The secondary slab will be deep enough to accept the lift fixings.
  • Second visit: Install Koster Quellband (water bars) at the construction joints, followed by the Installation of Delta Amphibia pinned to the OSB timber formwork walls

Main Contractor:

To cast r/c concrete structure to include external walls in sacrificial OSB formwork up to ground floor level.
