Waterproofing a New Build Using Krystol Waterstop Grout distributed by Smart Concrete
The Damptec team has started work on the first stage of waterproofing a substantial new build property at Newstead Abbey. This included the installation of a Type B waterproofing system using products supplied by Smart Concrete.

Type B – Concrete Waterproof Systems – Smart Concrete
On this project, Kryton’s Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) admixture was added to the readymixed concrete during batching which was supplied by Maxi Readymix.
Unlike other crystalline solutions that react with free lime that eventually depletes over time, KIM chemically reacts with water and unhydrated cement particles to form insoluble needle-shaped crystals that fill capillary pores and micro-cracks in the concrete and block the pathways for water and waterborne contaminants.
For the construction joints Kryton Waterstop Group and Waterstop Treatment were installed meaning if water is reintroduced to the structure, whether by rising hydrostatic pressure or through cracks, the Krystol technology will resume further crystallization to provide permanent waterproof protection.
