he Damptec team have recently completed waterproofing a 42m2 podium deck in Nottingham. The deck is of beam and block construction and had a screed and ceramic finish.
Enabling works
The team removed the tiles and cleared the surface of adhesive using a concrete floor scrabbler. The substrate was then thoroughly cleaned. Any divots were repaired using Newton 203 Repair Mortar.
Waterproofing the deck
In accordance with the Fixa Polymera MS Specification for Podium Decking, supplied by John Newton Waterproofing, the team applied 2 coats of Polymera MS with an upstand.
After application of the second coat sharp sand was used over the entire surface to create a good key ready for tiling.
